Parables
Recently I have been thinking in parables and thought that I would share them with whoever wanted to read...
The parable of the goat
Sometimes life throws us curve balls and things that are challenging. With those curve balls the Lord sends happy and tender mercies sometimes even as random as a little goat to teach us that he knows who we really are and what we really need to become. You see, as I held harry (the goat) on my lap in the car it would get bumpy and he would get scared and try to run away. He didn't realize that he was safely in my arms and that it would be ok. For moments he did notice and he would cuddle up against me and embrace the journey. We sometimes recognize the savior in that way as well. We sometimes embrace his arms encircled about us and let ourselves feel safe. Other times we try to get away from them because we are scared or life gets a little bumpy. These things ought not to be so. (yes there are even gospel lessons to be learned from a goat)

The Parable of the Roadway
This weekend I was driving down the road on the way to take a friend home. It was to a new location I had never been before. It was dark outside and I was tired but After I dropped her off I traveled down the road and confidently made a decision to take a particular road. It was the best choice that I could make based on the knowledge that I currently had. However, after going down the road for a few miles I suddenly realized that I had headed in the wrong direction going away from home rather than towards it.
Luckily just up ahead was an exit and a course correction could be made. I turned back around and headed home. This time I was more cautious about where I was. I was more attentive to road signs, and eventually made it home safely. The difference of one turn had caused me to go off track.
This applies to life in many ways. Sometimes we are doing our very best to make the right decision and we head in the wrong direction. The Lord loves us enough to allow us to change our course quickly. Just as the exit ramp appeared when I needed it, the Savior comes when we need Him! In fact, the exit ramp was always there and had been put in my course to correct it before I had ever made the wrong choice. The Savior was placed in our lives in the beginning before we were even more or before the incorrect choice was made. I could access the power to change or repent. It wasn't as though I had intentionally gone the wrong way and I believe that is why it was so easy to be corrected.
It was a simple, but good reminder that even as an imperfect human God can correct my path and lead me back home!
